Greeter Program

Be Part of

Being a greeter is simple. Your purpose is to offer a handshake and a warm 'good morning' to all who come to worship!  It’s a great way to get to know the members of this growing church family and to give each person who comes through the church door the message that they are important and valued here.
In PCUM's new greeter ministry, two greeters will be "on duty" each Sunday morning--one at each of the big, east and west facing doors that lead from the outside into the sanctuary -- the doors most newcomers use. Greeters will start welcoming folks at 9:45 am and be sure to wear their name tags.  Open the door up (weather permitting) and take a step just outside.  The goal is to make the sanctuary and the total experience on Sunday morning as inviting and easy-to-navigate as possible. An open door and a smiling face go a long way to send that message.
Greeters also can make the first-time worship experience a lot easier and more welcoming to families and individuals coming to worship--by providing information about the nursery/toddler room, guiding new worshipers on to the ushers, and generally making the morning a little less challenging. About 10 minutes after worship starts, greeters are done.
If you enjoy greeting, and if you remember how important a smiling face was when you first walked into church, you are most welcome to sign up.
