SUMMARY:PCUM's Pastor's Book Study "Reading Genesis"
DESCRIPTION:Beginning Thursday\, February 19th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm\, you are invited to join a six-week study and discussion of popular author Marilynne Robinson’s book Reading Genesis. \nFrom the classic creation-narratives describing the human relationship to God to the stories of God’s covenant with humanity and the first women and men to struggle with God’s call to faithful living\, the Book of Genesis contains many voices from our ancestors in faith as well as a unique vision of the place of human actions and lives within God’s universal purpose. \nClasses will be held throughout Lent\, from Thursday\, February 19th to Thursday\, March 26th\, and will be in-person at the church\, with a remote option. Each class study and discussion will last 90 minutes; feel free to come and go when you can!

MESH Café serves people in need in our local Montclair community.  \nVolunteers from (PCUM) provide meals for homeless and hungry neighbors in Montclair on the fourth Saturday of each month. DESCRIPTION:Plan to take part in this unique and meaningful Holy Week experience as the PCUM family gathers around the Lord’s Table to focus on the great love God of in Christ that sustains us even through the darkest times. \nThe name ‘MAUNDY’ derives from the Latin word mandatum\, which means “commandment\,” referring to Jesus’ commandment to his disciples after washing their feet at the Last Supper: “For I have set you an example\, that you should also do as I have done to you.” (John13:15). TENEBRÆ is the Latin word for darkness. During this experiential narrative service\, prepare to experience and understand Easter more fully by recounting the story of our Lord Jesus Christ’s journey from the Last Supper to the Garden of Gethsemane\, to Peter’s denial and the trials before Pilate and Herod. As Jesus’ crucifixion nears\, lights in the sanctuary are progressively extinguished.
