Here at PCUM, our priority as a faith community is to equip members and friends of all ages to build new relationships, strengthen existing bonds,
develop as people and as disciples, and grow closer to God.
Making connections in the church starts with visitors and regular worshipers, members and friends alike responding together on Sunday mornings to God's gracious claim on our lives in Christ.
As the Spirit works in us, we move into shared study experiences, fun activities inside and outside
the church’s walls, and the sharing of membership and leadership roles.
Children and Youth
PCUM’s priorities ministering to young people are to love, value and welcome children from all walks of life; to equip and challenge them to follow Jesus into the real world; and to share God’s Word with them in relevant and engaging ways. Our children and teens aren't just the future, they're the heart of the church right now! We strive to show children of all ages and every background that this is their church — to create a safe, engaging place for our youngest to feel accepted and loved by God, as they are, and to discover and grow into an authentic and fulfilling life of Christian faith.
Adult Learning Opportunities
Classes for adults include thematic and seasonally-inspired Bible studies to develop more confident, productive Bible readers; book discussions; community-wide explorations of race; seasonally-themed (Lent, Advent) classes; interfaith discussions with a neighboring synagogue; and discussion-based studies of God's voice in contemporary short fiction and film.
PCUM's adult education ministry focuses on congregation-wide educational events and regular, multi-week classes that address living as Christians in today's world. Congregation-wide educational offerings at PCUM have featured guest speakers on topics ranging from innovative anti-poverty initiatives, environmental stewardship, the history of stained glass in Christian architecture (with special focus on the outstanding stained glass in PCUM's sanctuary), and the Presbyterian Church (USA)’s role in Palestinian/Israeli peace efforts.
Small Groups
At PCUM, small group ministry inspires and equips you to deepen your spiritual life, builds relationships, and provides something that, in today's world, is increasingly rare — opportunities for people with different backgrounds and perspectives to connect. Whether it be musical ensembles and choirs, study groups and classes, social get-togethers, or work/ mission teams serving others internationally or close by, there is a place for you to be a valued member of a small group experience.
Serve Others
At PCUM, you have a range of opportunities to reach out and serve others, just as God has reached out through Jesus Christ to love and serve us. Stepping beyond self-interest to care for neighbors grows naturally from our encounter with the Good News in worship — and has become part of the rhythm of life at this church.
